It does not cover other websites we link to, such as Instagram or the sites of partner clubs. Those have their own policies.

Young players

Most Messina Cup participants are under 18. We take that seriously.

  • Player information is provided to us by the registering club, which is responsible for having the agreement of each player's parent or guardian where required.
  • We collect only what is needed to run the tournament safely and fairly.
  • We do not send marketing to players under 18.
  • Images of young players are used to cover the tournament. We do not publish home addresses, schools or contact details alongside them. A parent, guardian or club can ask us to remove an image at any time by emailing us.
  • Medical and welfare information is shared only with the people who need it, such as event medical staff, and only for player welfare.

/06

Email updates

If you sign up for updates, we use your email address to send tournament news, registration announcements and information about the editions you are interested in. We send these emails through Brevo, an email service provider based in the European Union.

Every email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to remove you at any time by email. Brevo may record whether an email was opened or a link was clicked, which helps us understand what is useful.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only where it is needed, and only with people who are required to protect it.

  • The ACR Messina organisation, which runs the tournament.
  • Racing City Group companies, where needed to deliver an edition, for example the Americas edition, or a programme such as player pathway or legends appearances.
  • Service providers who act on our instructions, including website hosting, email delivery (Brevo), accommodation and transport partners for registered clubs, and event medical and security staff.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it, or to protect the safety of participants.

/09

International transfers

Messina Cup operates in Italy and, through the Americas edition, in North America. Some information may be transferred outside the European Economic Area, for example to organise the Americas edition or where a service provider is based abroad.

When that happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as an adequacy decision by the European Commission or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

/10

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it.

  • Enquiries that do not lead to a registration or partnership: up to 24 months, then deleted.
  • Club and player registration records: for the edition concerned and up to 24 months afterwards, unless a longer period is required by law.
  • Welfare and medical information: deleted or anonymised within 3 months of the end of the edition, unless there is an incident that requires it to be kept.
  • Email update subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
  • Contract, tax and accounting records: for the period required by Italian law, currently up to 10 years.

/11

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including access controls, encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limiting access to people who need it. No system is completely secure, so if we become aware of a breach that affects you, we will tell you and the authorities where the law requires.

/12

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate information corrected;
  • have your information deleted, where there is no good reason for us to keep it;
  • restrict or object to how we use it, including for direct marketing;
  • receive your information in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting anything done before.

To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will reply within one month. A parent or guardian can exercise these rights on behalf of a child.

You also have the right to complain to the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, or to the authority in the country where you live.
